Kyoto, Japan

4D3N

Kyoto Station

 Shijo area (where we live)

Sharing this room with our host. One on bed, two using sleeping bag.
Our first dinner in Kyoto together with our host Suresh in a Japanese restaurant. Had sashimi, tempura, sake. mackerel fish

 Nishiki market

Nishiki market is just walking distance from our apartment. Went there very early in the morning so, many shops are not open yet. The things in Nishiki market are not cheap, normally locals don't come here to buy things from what i heard.

Saw many people buying from this store so we decided to try this smooth tofu served with soy sauce, some grinded ginger and katsuobushi. 250 yen. Something special to try.
We are hungryyy so we're came to this self service kind of restaurant that serve udons.
 550yen udon. It tasted ok.

Saw this thing everywhere, normally outside of people's houses. wondering what is this, some kind of pig God?
Bought some instant ramen from 100 yen store inside Nishiki market! Quite good!

Something cheap and nice to get in family mart. 118 yen. Family mart is my favourite convenience store in Japan compared with Lawson and Seico mart.

The dog by the window watching its owner from above.
fall season sweet treat

Gion street
Gion is a very touristy area, crowded with people that came on a tour. Luckily there's still many small alleys that has less people. We came here twice, morning and evening to see the night lights.
Happen to pass by this shop famous for their okonomiyaki so we decided to have our dinner here.
680 yen each. Not cheap, 4 of us only ordered 2 to share. Of course we still need to get some other food later, most probably convenience store as usual hehe

Tenjinbashisuji

We took train to Tenjinbashi to look for our friend that invited us to her friend place for tea ceromony.

Wheee it was really a good experience! the tea whisking part isn't that easy...
Made the tea using matcha powder.

He even got us some of these namagashi for the tea ceromony, small sweet homemade dessert made of bean paste if not mistaken. I had a few of it and it is one of the best thing i had in Japan.
Dinner at her apartment. We made Bakuteh for them and they brought some sashimi for dinner too! Had an amazing time with them.

 Arashiyama

Arashiyama seems to be like a must go place when you're in Kyoto, everyone will surely visit the bamboo garden listed on one of the place to visit before you die. We came a little late in the noon so it is crowded with tourist and locals as well.
It is a huge area to walk around
Didn't manage to take many nice pictures in the bamboo garden. But here's one. The garden is not as nice as expected haha but it's free entrance, yay
Waiting for the bus, we are really confused by which bus to take, the bus route seems very complicated. In the end we took the wrong bus that stop at a wrong place.

Kimozudera

This sums up my trip in Kyoto :)
